Welcome to the future…
In China, it isn’t uncommon to wake up in the morning, step outside your front door and find that a new shop has magically appeared across the street from you, it also isn’t uncommon to see a gaggle of teens bonding over the latest offering from Apple, however what is uncommon, is standing still (excluding the overwhelming number of people on the subway who move like they are auditioning for ‘Dawn of the Dead’ of course) and taking it all in… Most people pass by, walking through this maze of constant changes without even a blink. I have to admit that I too have fallen victim to this zombie like state on occasions and it is easy to see why. I often think of it like a plot from some sci-fi movie where culture, technology, language, people and identity have all molded in to one substance and this substance is incredibly hard to pin down.
