Music and Film and Us Oh My!(December)

Turn that record up!

Are you da one? Rihanna thinks so…

The next single from Rihanna’s new album ‘Talk That Talk’ will be ‘You Da One’. The song maintains the chill out feel of the albums first single, but somehow doesn’t quite garner the same impact. Not as good as her first single, but hey, maybe it’s a grower?! BTW It is not cool to promote smoking Rhi Rhi…

Fa La La

Yes! The Biebs has released another song from his much talked about Christmas album. This time Justin has teamed up with Boys II Men who are obviously pushing very hard for a successful come back。 Is this it? Probably not, the song lacks melody and emotion and ends up being more of a vocal range contest. But who said a song needed to be good when you have Justin Bieber on it?

Madonna and the machine?

Florence + The Machine have just released their brand new single ‘No Light, No Light’. The song is like an epic and dramatic reinterpretation of Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer’; or maybe it is just the music video that evokes this link? Either way, we love it!

Watch this!

The Iron Lady

The biopic about Britain’s first and only female priminister is already receiving a ton of talk and it hasn’t even been released. Maybe it is because Meryl Streep is playing Margret Thatcher? Streep always delivers, check it out after January 6th.

Immortals

‘Immortals’ is the new movie by the same production team that brought us ‘300’. The reviews for this movie haven’t been very positive so far primarily because of the extreme violence. But if you like your Greek mythology mixed with a bit of gore, then my guess is you’ll love it…

New Years Eve

How many big names can you cram in to one movie? Watch this and you’ll find out. Critics are giving this the heads up, but if you like a movie that allows you to really get to know a character, then this probably isn’t for you, if you want a bit of cliché and romance then you’ll love it!

Christmas Classics!

Home Alone 1 and 2

A classic choice for Christmas chilling is definitely ‘Home Alone’, but only 1 and 2 or course, whoever thought it would work without Macaulay Culkin was WRONG….

The Snowman

Who doesn’t remember this Raymond Briggs classic about the magical snowman that comes to life for one night? Unfortunately, Guangzhou is unlikely to experience snow any time soon, so making your own is a little problematic. In the meantime why not rekindle some old memories via your DVD player or if that isn’t enough you could always attempt the classic song ‘walking in the air’ during your next KTV visit.

Jingle all the way

Have you ever left your Christmas shopping to the last minute? I definitely have. This movie sees Arnold Schwarzenegger’s attempt to buy his son the most popular toy of the season on Christmas Eve….Bad idea.

The Nightmare before Christmas

Bored of the same old chirpy and pristine classics about the festive season? Why not give Tim Burton’s classic a try. ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is about what happens when Halloween and Christmas come together!
