Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, California, is seeking an ESL Instructor to teach English for their CCC EBUS program at Xiang Jiang High School (XJHS) in Jade-Green Island, Guangdong Province, China. The Coastline Community College EBUS project is a unique program offering United States college-level courses to high school students in China to prepare them for successful transfer to U.S. colleges and universities.
The instructor will teach EFL classes, participate in curriculum development and assist with other activities for up to 30 hours per week. The program assignment includes two 13-week semesters beginning September 20, 2010 and February 20, 2011.
Experience teaching ESL to adults, experience teaching high-intermediate to advanced-level English grammar and developing ESL multi-skill curricula, familiarity with the TOEFL Internet-Based Test (IBT), fluency in Mandarin, and experience in living outside the U.S. Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to make a two-semester (13 weeks each) commitment.
Masters degree in TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or Education with a TESL emphasis, or a Bachelors degree in Linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND a Masters degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related subject. Excellent English writing and speaking skills are required.
Compensation: $7,800 for each 13 week semester.
