A dance drama titled “Sanjia Lane” is the latest to join the army of stage projects dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

The dance play is adapted from the novel of the same-name penned by Ouyang Shan in the 1980′s.

The story is set in 1920′s Guangzhou when three uprisings erupted and the turbulent era changed the lives of many people.

It follows a group of young people, led by Zhou Bing and Ou Tao, as they struggled to pursue their dreams of making China a better country.

By reviving a particular slice of China’s revolutionary history, the play aims to reemphasize the importance of maintaining a faithful heart among today’s young generation.

The music of the play has absorbed traditional folk songs once popular in the southern parts of Guangdong.

Audacious choreography helps flesh out different characters, expressing inner thoughts and narrating the twisted storyline.

The novel “Sanjia Lane” was adapted into a movie in the 1980′s. This is the first stage adaptation of the well-known novel.
